i am thinking of moaking a tall enclosure for some hyla arborea. i am looking for some plants which are not big but grow to around 4-5ft high. has anybody got any ideas?

On the whole, arborea seem to prefer bushy plants - basically reasonably dense and broad leafed. One of their favourites in the wild is bramble - but I wouldn't recommend that! They will also use broad leafed reeds etc. A lot depends on the enclosure but, with your height limit, so long as you can plant in a body of water ot VERY moist soil then a small broad leafed reed would be fine - Water Iris is superb but unfortunately insufficient on its own as it dies back in winter. In greenhouses I tend to use Passion Flower and just hack it back savagely - and frequently. In heated vivs, scindapsus can be dealt with in much the same way. Chris Davis

you can always get the thornless bramble variety.

thanks for that. when we were in spain we found that the hyla meridionalis generally lived on bamboo and bramble. but i just wanted to make sure what the hyla arborea lived on. alex
