i've been thinking over the last few days if it would be possible to mix the two genuses together either in an outdoor vivarium or in an indoor one? would anyone like to comment?

In an outdoor vivarium it could be quite possible. with the large amount of space the animals will have room to establish territories and generally keep out of each others way, that is if they are the same size as they will meet each other on occasion. there are issues about toxin etc mixing aquatic species in indoor tanks but any outdoor amphibians keeper will tell you that in a large pond the toxins are diluted so much that it does not cause a problem. I have no experience with the two species that you mention, nor do I know if they would be suitable for an outdoor vivarium. do let us know how you get on and any problems you encounter.

Hi, these species should mix no problem at all providing there is ample space. I have kept and bred species form both of the genera before and aslong as the enclosurew can be kept cool throughout the summer, they make ideal outdoor subject, (P. glutinosus and E. longicauda) I had a 16 square foot enclosure with a stream running through it where the eurycea hung out but the slimies tended to hide away under rotten logs all the time.
