i don't currently have an outdoor snake enclosure killian. although once the far corner of my garden is cleared of rubble, i may well build one as its a very sunny , open and south facing spot(well, as sunny as you can get in manchester). did you ever speak to dr. alan francis about keeping garters outdoors?

i can only comment on my experiences kj, i haven't encountered any problems yet, but i'm no expert in caudates and so of course with any species mixing it would be wise to excersise caution

Phil, I woldnt mix the Pleurodeles with other smaller species thy are gluttons. Mine have survived in outside vivaria for at least three winters so they are hardy in Bedfordshire.

yes, i'm beginning to realise that now colin, they're certainly rather fond of rana tadpoles. probably better to move them now. the largest 2 of the 4 are already 6 inches and probably more than capable of tackling smaller caudates

I thought you told me you had an outdoor snake enclosure, sorry my mistake. I think i may move my pair of garters into the enclosure that I built for common lizards and slow worms as it looks unlikly that I will ever see them or my money.

yeah, sorry to hear about that. i may be able to help you and will out with c.b. slow-worms, but it may be a month or 2 yet. a good freind of mine has a colony which regularly breed but being ovo-viviparous the young are not actually born untill about mid july
