Cheers Alex

Unfortunately not now.I used to keep them about twenty years ago and I found them pretty easy to keep and breed. At the time I kept them with European Treefrogs, bred loads of them but no one wanted the offspring.I bet it would be different now !!!

I think you're quite right, punctatus go for reasonable money - i was quoted them at around £20 a juvenile last year, same as CB true European Bufo viridis etc, alot of the European species can command a fair few pounds these days.

I keep both Greek and Italian viridis, they really make the Egyptian subspecies commonly seen in the trade look very bland indeed, their colouration and markings are absolutely outstanding. Should have Italian viridis for sale this summer, Greeks hopefully next year. I've heard of the European viridis going for good money, but Hamm's prices are ridiculous! £25 each for juvenile Alytes obstetricans aswell! Again, should have some of these available later this summer... £24 each

Its strange that they charge so much for the European Amphibians as I would have thought that the market was pretty small.Dont mention the prices of the Fire Salamanders!!!Yet you can buy venemous at a fraction of the price. Anyway back to the subject Greek and Turkish viridis are the nicest ones that I have seen. They often have red stippling as well.Ages ago I saw some nice ones in Crete,a good size as well.

I also saw the 'Solling' Salamanders at Hamm - I bought two male terristris there last year for 25e each, and they are extremely yellow very similar to the Solling form. This year there were females starting at 59e and going up to 200e!! I managed to haggle with the chap and got a female for 40e -
There were crazy prices for some things - juvenile marbleds for 50e?
Didn't see any Pelodytes there, but it might be worth talking to Andrew Tilson-Wills (Pollywog) to see if he has a route to get some.

Pollywog used to have quite a few Euro species, and was fairly active on here, i seem to remember him mentioning somewhere he knows of a couple of people working with punctatus. He's got a few bits and bobs on his website at the moment, am currently tempted by the Pelobates fuscus (have kept both syriacus and cultripes before). If you're after sollings Rob, give me a shout - i maybe able to source some for you. Noticed that Dartfrog (which i do not use) have some morphed gigliolii for £40 each! I look forward to my female dropping then . As for the viridis both my greek and italian viridis exhibit the beautiful red spots, although they look quite different in markings i couldn't say which locality is prettier... They are both quite stunning.

Hi Alex - the female I picked up in Hamm is supposedly a Solling terrestris, however I am on the hunt for a couple of female terristris this year if you know anyone selling sub-adults/adults.
They had gigliolii at Hamm, but were 39euros each - very pretty though, let me know when your female drops!
