Hi This is my first post on what looks like a very forum. I have started to build by outside enclosure for 4 marbled newts that should. arrive with me this week. It will have a nice size water area that will be filled with bottled spring water however i was wondering if anyone else uses spring water or just rain water to fill there ponds up with, my crested Newts that live indoors at the moment only have spring water.

I use aged tap water initially and then the rain tops my ponds up. I suppose it depends on the tap water in your area. I am fortunate that the tap water round here has proved fine for all my aquatic animals over the years including tropical fish. Bottled water is full of minerals which means it is hard water, I am not sure if that would have a negative effect on your newts. Rain water is generally known as soft water however it can contain all sorts of chemicals.
Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new animals and post some pics of your set-up when complete

I agree with Killian, aged tapwater is fine.It is also a good idea to have a water butt so you can provide good ,clean rainwater.
