Hurrah my first batch of self bred (er prob should say captive bred, don't want start any rumours...) Yellow Bellied toads are just metamorphosing.
However not showing any trace of ventral colour yet, anyone any idea when this will develop. They've had an algae and fish flake diet and been largely under artificial light.

Aah well I'll answer my own question then..
It seems its was just the first 5 or so metamorphs (been out for nearly a week) that where grey underneath, subsequent ones are showing hints of colour on belly by quite bright palms. So must be just an individual variation thing.

They will colour up in time.If you can give them a varied diet with wild caught insects this will help.If you can keep them outside in the sunlight their backs may go greenish as well.
