Notice the plastic over hang around the top edge to prevent escapes, the lids can also be shut.

they could possibly, but it is essential to put a barrier underneath the enclousre not only to slop you from loosing animals, but also to prevent predators from burrowing in.

how successfull has the plastic rim been Killian? i'd prefer to use something like this to make life easier for my new viv, but for lizards i suppose it will have to be wider.

It works well I have never had any escapes, I dont think an alpine newt could dig out to be honest, i have the wall under the ground a few inches and the soil well compacted. other animals like mole salamanders and lizards you will need a good base.

actually now i think about it, i better have a lid, our neighbours has a cat, i'd hate to find the little dear with a slow-worm hanging from it's mouth!

Are vivs movable or ment to be permanent?

I prefare to make them permanent becaue when I didg a pond and vivarium it is not so easy to move all!

Are the propagators home made or bought and what dimensions are they?

I bought them in a local garden centre £30.00 think they are 3' x 2'
