maybe some of you caudate experts could help here. my fire salamander larvae are almost ready to morph. what would be the best foods to feed them on first leaving the water as theres not many garden sweepings to be had in january, although slugs and worms are still available. i want to give them as varied a diet as i can. any suggestions?

Hi Phil, i feed my morphs pinhead crickets, small(or cut up) earthworms, fruitflies and sometime lesser waxworms. I don't use slugs as some species can be hosts to lungworm and though i dont have experience with this in amphibians it's just something i don't want to risk.

Hi Phil, i don't know much about it myself...i'll look into it a little more. I did once have to rear a rook that had lungworm but this is the only hand on experience i've had. However, i've seen dissection pictures clearly showing worms in the lungs
