Any one got any suggestions on how to keep ponds in cold frame enclosures algae free or to atleast limit the growth ?

if you get a good balance of plants you should have no problems. Duckweed is a good one as it keeps the water underneth clear. marginals are also good. depends on size of pond really also try some pond snails and daphnia

daphnia are superb algae eaters and an excellent source of food for larval caudates. they are however prone to sudden population explosions for a while and once all available food is eaten they either die or just stop multiplying. ramshorn snails eat nothing else but algae in my experience. ordinary pond snails also eat water plants so i usually exclude these.

I've got a daphnia culture starting at the moment, hopefully I can transfer some across soon.
I'll have to see if I can get hold of some ramshorn snails at some point as well.
I'd like to avoid duckweed if possible. The stuff is impossible to control.
