Hi,
Has anyone had experience of keeping, or know anything about Lacerta Unisexularis ? There are some for sale at a local Reptile Shop, (Leaping Lizards at York) and I'm just curious about them. There seems to be nothing in the relevant literature. The advice from the reptile shop is that they live at high altitudes and are asexual. Has anyone any other independent facts to add to this ? The shop is pretty good but I can only get there occassionally.
By the way how the weather been treating everyone since the last update ? Up here in East Yorkshire we've had nothing but snow since Christmas with temperatures in the -minus's. A few days it's been -4/-6, while the other night it got down to -10 !! I checked on a few of my young greens and exiguas and they seemed to be ok. It's going to keep cold and may get colder for the next few nights so I'm not counting my chickens just yet. Some of my young Trillineata's haven't come through as they didn't burrow down deep enough or use the chamber that I had in the cage. They where in a heated shed and they still where hit by the extreme cold.

Hi Chris - I think unisexularis is a sub species of Darevskia saxicola (Caucasian Rock Lizard). Quite possibly parthongenic - do you know how many they have for sale?

Hi Chris,
I guess you were right about your lizards, what a shame. I hope the others manage to survive. I don't know anything about these other lacertas' you mention. Are you intending to get some? I did look at the site and noticed they had a pair of Berber Skinks, if only I lived closer, I would have them. I have three, they are quite difficult to get.
We now have the snow, started a couple of days ago, about 6inches now and still falling. At least it will help insulate the reps.

Hi Barbara,
Regarding the skinks, if there is anything I can do for you just let me know. It's not the best time of year to send anything out, if you've any ideas maybe I can help.

Hi Chris,
Thanks a lot for the offer. I really don't know whether anyone does courier service from your area to Kent and it's not been the best of weather to send out livestock, has it? It's a problem getting any live food recently. Fortunately, I have plenty mealworms and skinks don't eat much anyway.
Did you get the the lizards you wanted? B.
