I was wondering if I use large, plastic boxes with holes drilled at the bottom, and gravel underneath that for proper drainage, how much chance is there that earthworms will actually make it into the plastic vivariums to be eaten by salamanders? They prefer earthworms so much to tigerworms. If it is slim to non-existent, is there a better automatic system that imitates nature?

do you mean sinking the box into the soil? If so some worms mat migrate into the box but I would think not many. Also they would remain out of sight and not be eaten. If you don't like digging you could half bury a paving slab and keep the area damp.Worms will appear underneath
