In April 2006 I asked a question on this this forum about the place of a pond in a outdoor vivarium. I made a vivarium in 2006. I try to place a picture of it in this message. [/img] Now I have a new question: In my vivarium I breed worms and snails. This is the food for the newts. The problem is that the Blackbirds have discovered the worms and the snails. To get them the birds destroy the topsoil. An other, bigger, problem is that they also see my newts as dinner. Does anyone have a solution for this problem, without covering the vivarium?

a good way of keeping birds away is to get a piece of board and paint a large pair of eyes on it in yellow with black pupils, the birds think it is a predator staring at them, if you move it about every so often they will not get used to it

you must put the address of the photo between the IMG tags and I think you have to have the IMG in captial letters.
Re: Blackbirds, the only way you will acieve total exclusion of the birds is to cover the viv. I would recomend covering it anyway as cats and rats will also enter the viv at night time. It need not be heavy mesh. if you go to homebase they have some really fine black nylon netting. would be perfect.
