This weekend i was lucky enough to be given a breeding group of Discoglossus pictus and their young from this year. I am extremely excited as this is my favourite anuran species which is seldom seen in captivity these days. To make things even better, The adults spawned last night!!!!!! Please check back later today as i shall post some photos. Adam

when I used the term "nice little frogs" I wasn't really refering to their size, my largest was about 7cm.

Why are they called painted frogs? have you any more pics of them?

As you know, common names are usually some obvious description of the species, the painted frogs have a beautiful pastelly marbling effect a little bit like paisley from the 60's. I shall take some pics as i get chance, but i don't usually use digital so it may take me a while! Then again the quality will be better with SLR!
