I am currently reading a book called "Chimps Champs and Elephants" by Jack Baker. It is about the eccentric millionaire Herbert Whitley who founded Paington zoo.
In a detailed description of his 16 large greenhouses which contained everything from crocodiles to giant salamanders it mentions a group of tortoise shell Bufo bufo that he was breeding a strain of.
Is this strain still in existance? or are there any other mutations of Bufo bufo?
He had a real interested in breeding mutations and breed pure black and pure yellow fire salamanders.
I am not finished the book yet but I will let you know of any other interesting topics raised.
