they would be fine outdoors, they are wide spread throughout Portugal & Spain and into southern France. They can also be found in western France

very nice, do they spend all their time under ground?

not all their time, in the summer you will see them out feeding around dusk and dawn.

I forgot to say, a few years ago I kept this species outdoors and saw them a little bit more than the fuscus but they are almost completely fossorial. I can't remember seeing them except in the pitch black.

yes they are sexable and the females are pretty huge. I've had these before also and I found them to be more active than most other Pelobatidae.

How many have you got, what is SVL length of average female? How are you keeping them at the moment and are they eating well? The reason I ask about husbandry is that i don't want to throw them directly outside if they have been kept indoors.

those I had in stock left me this afternoon for their new homes but I can get more in to order. The females were a good 6-7cm S-V and almost as round. I had them indoors in a tank full of cocohumus, they are WC adults and probably been in captivity for about a month.

Nice photos, I have been onto your website thanks to a recommendation, I may be interested in buying some French species, but that's not for here, however would it bother you if I asked if you would be interested in contributing photos of French species onto my website ( www.reptilia-amphibia.net).
