I was a bit worried to say the least about my S s terrestris after the evil winter we have had up to now, but a few nights back I took my torch out and two of them were exiting the hibernaculum ;D Also one of my Bufo americanus that leave year round in convertyed coal shed is also out and about ;D ;D

It's good to hear of amphibs and reps. surviving the coldest winter we have had in decades. Soon be time for spawning. Do you think it will be early or late this year?

the salamanders in my enclosure have fared well, but the wild frogs in my garden ponds not so well. Ive fished 29 dead out of the ponds. Also by this time of year Ive usually got lots of newts returned to my garden and ponds, but this year Ive got just 1 Triturus cristatus and 1 Triturus vulgaris back , so for me here I can see it being a late breeding season if at all

That's real bad for the frogs. I guess they had been hibernaating at the bottom and ran out of oxygen. Not a sign of any frogs here as yet and you have much worse cold weather up there. It is suppose to be milder over the weekend, so perhaps there will be some movement then.
