From what I can gather males are slightly smaller than females and not as round but as you know you can get underfed females and overweight males!

What does everyone feed their bombina on? and how do you ensure that in an outdoor enclosure they all get fed?

Well its about 5 months later and the little toads are starting to become more visable due to their increasing size. these little guys have completly fended for themselves since they left the water. They were in a 6' x 8' enclosure with lots of rotting wood and stone piles. Most of you from the UK wont be very impressed as you have these guys in your back gardens but I am really pleased as they are not a native to Ireland and I only know one other person here that keeps them.

It is amazing how much food gets into outdoor vivaria. I am building a large enclosure in the garden to release them into.

What do you move them on to after metamorphose? I am just planning on releasing them into a large enclosure and attracting in as many small inverts as possible, using fruit, meat and maybe even lights at night time?

Great picture, I have often thought about getting a few of these guys. What age do they start breeding at and are the young hard to rear? have you any pics of the enclosure, you have inspired me to give them a try.

This site does not condone the release of any non native amphibians into the wild and promotes amphibians being kept in secure enclosures that the animals cannot escape from!
